The town with the big brooding mountain behind it was a cold place. It was winter and snow covered the said hill. It stood out like a permanent white ghost five hundred metres tall. Everlasting and unforgetting. A bit like the hardy grudge holding inhabitants who lived here and resented strangers like myself. Even if I was still a northerner like them. They were preparing for their Winter/Christmas fair. Stalls were being assembled to sell gifts and food. People were eating kebabs and drinking coffee. I fancied a kebab myself, a mixed meat one with hit sauce on nan bread. I walked past several Asian kebab shops or stalls. I turned down a side street to check out the other kebab places located on the parallel road. I'd eat then get a few Xmas gifts. All the while I noticed hard hidden glances fixing me off the locals. I'd have to watch my back and be ready. I'd like a few warm beers this cold night but them being them and me simply me ruled it out. I looked up at the towering mountain and thought about drinking there tonight. I had no tent not sleeping back even if I got eight cans from the corner ship. First I looked forward to my kebab...
